Alberto Alves has a bachelor’s in Economics from the Universidade de São Paulo and more than four decades of management experience in various public and private sectors. He has specialized in themes such as strategy, project planning and analysis, including studies at the American University, in Washington (USA).

From 2002 to 2013, he acted as the assistant director of the Associação Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veículos Automotores – National Automakers Association (Anfavea). Previously during the decade of the 1990s, he was an assistant director at Mercedes Benz Brazil. His career in the private sector also included the position of acting director of government and institutional relations at British Petroleum, among other companies.

In the public sector, Alves held positions such as assistant secretary for the Secretariat of Planning for the Presidency of the Republic and economic advisor to the minster of Agriculture. For ten years he was also the superintendent of the development area of the then state-owned, Companhia Vale do Rio Doce. This year he was previously acting minister of the Ministry of Tourism at the end of April.
